Edward Hartley was born in January 1835 in England.
Edward Hartley married Sarah (?) say 1858 at England. Edward and Sarah emigrated to New York on 22 September 1863, aboard the Etna, having departed from Liverpool, England. Also listed on the passenger list was, George Hartley and Mary Hartley. They were accomodated in steerage..
Edward said to work in a Button Shop on the 1870 U.S. Federal Census. He and Sarah (?) appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Naugatuck, New Haven County, Connecticut, enumerated 15 June 1870. Mary Hartley, Harriet Ann Hartley and George Hartley also was listed as living in the household. Edward Hartley and Sarah (?) appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Naugatuck, New Haven County, Connecticut, enumerated 4 June 1880. Their Children Ada, George, Mary and Harriet Ann were listed as living with them. Edward listed as being a knifemaker on the !880 U.S. Federal Census. Edward listed as working as a laborer in a rubber shop, on the 1900 U.S. Federal Census. He and Sarah (?) appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Naugatuck, New Haven County, Connecticut, enumerated 4 June 1900,on Church Street. Edward Hartley died after 4 June 1900.
